Re: Chasing FICO! My first month - up from 562 to 669!

Update, 5/12/14

I had one last credit app I was waiting for final word on.  At the time, I applied for the Discover IT, Chase Slate and Baclaycard Rewards.  I had to call on each, due to a fraud flag I added to my CR (bogus address was listed).  Last week I got the approval for Discover IT ($500) and Chase Slate ($2000).

Finally got to talk to an analyst at Barclaycard Rewards today; they had been waiting on my identity verification sent via snail mail (no email/fax option).  They asked me a couple of questions: income, job length, asked about my 1 late with BBRZ and old judgments.  After that she asked what kind of line I was looking for, I requested something comparable to what Chase just gave me ($2000) and she approved $5000!!!  Repeatedly commended me on elminating balances and having such a strong on-time payment history.  Boy that felt good!

Happy Monday!  Smiley Very Happy

Re: Chasing FICO! My first month - up from 562 to 669!

HAHAHA!  Love it @Shogun!

Here's my updated credit - got some CLI approved!  Slow & steady...

May 2014

Citi   5000 - CLI denied

Comentiy  200 - too new, no CLI request

CFNA  1200 - CLI denied

1-CapOne  1250 - $500 CLI approved (was $750)

2-CapOne  1250 - $500 CLI approved (was $750)

3-CapOne  750 - recent auto-CLI

GE/Care  1700 - $1200 CLI approved (was $500)

BBRZ-Citi  0/300 - CLI denied

GECRB  500 - CLI denied

Fingerhut  250 - nothing requested

Discover IT 500 (new card)

Chase Slate 2000 (new card)

Barclaycard RW 5000 (new card)

All are zero balances, except CitiAA card; which has been my primary of late.  But that is going to change soon if they don't get a little nicer!   It seems that Citi is going to be the difficult ones.  Between not approving the CLI on either card, and not being willing to give me a GW adjustment on the BBRZ card.  Anyone had luck negotiating with Citi?  It's killing me that this one late payment in over 7 years is hanging over my head.  Really need to get rid of it.  Smiley Sad

I was able to get a couple of items removed from TU upon investigation.  More to come on that.  Time to sit back and let things settle in and see where the next couple of months take me.

Re: Chasing FICO! My first month - up from 562 to 669!

It’s been a little while and I’ve been a busy girl, so here’s my update for July 2014:

The accounts are listed in order of age (oldest to newest) and I’ve added some additional details.

  •   Citi (28.74% APR) – CLI of $1300, New CL Total $6300, Balance = $900; 9.31% utility
  •   1-CapOne (14.99% APR) – CL Total $750, Balance = $0.00; 0% utility
  •   Citi-BBRZ MC (21.74% APR) – CL Total $300, Balance = $0.00; 0% utility (just had to pay AF $39)
  •   2-CapOne (19.80% APR) – CL Total $1250, Balance = $0.00; 0% utility
  •   Fingerhut (TBD) – CL Total $250, Balance = $0.00; 0% utility (never used this account)
  •   CFNA-Bridgestone (22.80% APR) – CL Total $1200, Balance = $0.00; 0% utility
  •   GE – Care Credit (26.99% APR) – CL Total $1700, Balance = $140; 1.45% utility (balance is deferred interest)
  •   3-CapOne (19.90% APR) – CL Total $1250, Balance = $0.00; 0% utility
  •   GE – Walmart (22.90% APR) – CLI of $700, New CL Total $1200, Balance = $0.00; 0% utility
  •   Comenity – LB (24.99% APR) – CL Total of $200, Balance = $0.00; 0% utility
  •   Barclaycard Rewards MC (0.00% APR) – CL Total of $5000, Balance = $2900; 30% utility
  •   Chase Slate (0.00% APR) – CL Total of $2000, Balance = $550; 5.60% utility
  •   GE – Lowes (TBD) – CL Total of $500, Balance = $0.00; 0% utility
  •   Discover IT (0.00% APR) – CL Total of $500, Balance = $0.00; 0% utility
  •   Chase Amtrak RW (15.99% APR) – CL Total of $3500, Balance = $375; 3.87% utility
  •   Barclaycard Apple (22.99% APR) – CL Total of $2200, Balance = $1345; 13.78% utility (balance is deferred interest)

I had two cards that I was able to get CLI on (Citi & Walmart).  I have added some new accounts.  Debating on cancelling some of them; but I’m undecided.

My overall utility is higher than what I am working toward; currently at about 22%.  But a large portion of the balance I’m carrying on the one card is for work travel that I’m awaiting a reimbursement on.  So that will go down as soon as I get that.  I want to stay below 10% utility as much as possible.

My current scores are:

EQ:  675

TU:  687

EX:  658

My TU had been above 700, but started dropping due to the inquiries and the new balances reported on my accounts.  I still PIF each month except those with deferred interest.  The GE – Care Credit will be paid off this month.  The Apple Financing was a new computer; I have six (6) months to pay that off and not incur interest charges.  No problem! Smiley Happy

I’m trying to keep cards with rewards that I will use.  My older accounts were just those I could get at the time.  Only a couple give me rewards (Citi, CapOne).  Hence, debating on closing some accounts.

My AAOA is down to about 3 years; before new accounts it was closer to, or slightly above 4 years.  My oldest TL is approaching 9 years.  I’ve played around with the numbers to see the impact on the AAOA if I remove certain accounts.  Determing if any, and which should be closed is TBD.

In more exciting news, one of my reasons for beginning this journey was to reach the goal of buying a home.  And as of last month I was pre-approved for a mortgage!  While that was exciting, I’m not quite sure I’m ready for it.  But I have at least 9 months of my lease left; so there’s time.  I guess I need to go into gardening mode.  I say that with hesitation because finally having decent credit makes me want MORE credit!  It’s an itch I can’t quite get rid of; but I’m trying!  GARDEN, GARDEN, GARDEN!  Smiley Happy
