Citi has no record of account.

I have a TL on all 3 of my credit reports from Citi. Opened Mar 2003, $300 CL, No lates, $0 balance.

Status is "Account closed by credit grantor." - Nov 2005

I was curious about this, as I've never had a Citi card. I called them up and had them look up the account by SSN and no record was found.

I think I already know the answer to this question, but should I dispute it?

I'm going with no as the account is older than my AAoA, and having the TL removed would hurt my score. So I guess it's happy birthday to me. =)

Re: Citi has no record of account.

Call them and have them look up account by the acocunt number given on the credit report.  See if they can find account that way. If they cannot since it is closed and will fall off in a year or so I would leave it alone.

Re: Citi has no record of account.

The credit report XXXs the account number. I don't think that the status of closed by credit grantor is bad at all, for scoring purposes. I'm definitely going to just take the free credit history on this one.

Re: Citi has no record of account.

I would say the older the account and it's in good standing, just leave it.

Let me tell you what happened to my score after I closed an Amex account that was  used (CL $2000) and never late and PIF every month. I had this account opened in 2002 and then in 2004 from some very bad advice closed the account (I was told since it was not used to close it long story).

I should have left it opened since it would have counted towards my credit length. I also the same day closed my $2000 Macys account (opened 2001) , My $1000 Eddie Bauer card (opened 2001) all always paid in full and on time. But when I closed it, my score dropped by 45 points everything else staying the same. Now i kick yself everytime i think about it but glad that I am on this boars learning again.

So I would say it the account was never late but old, keep it.

Re: Citi has no record of account.

CS, did you know that AMEX backdates?

If you open an AMEX now, like, today, and they either find or you can prove you had that account opened in 2001, they will backdate the open date.  Your new open date would be March 2002 on a brand new card.

Mauve:

I would love an AMEX but my scores don't even come close to AMEX standards. The Amex i Had is still reporting on my Experian CR

It says that this account is scheduled to continue on record until Jan 2015.

Re: Citi has no record of account.

I want an AMEX desperately. I love that they'll backdate any future cards. I didn't have any badies on my EX CR, until I disputed a student loan via EQ, as it was only showing lates on EQ.

The dispute made them put the lates on my EX as well. =(

I sent a GW letter, maybe they'll be nice. I swear that the rehabilitation people said that all lates would be removed. They were removed on EX and TU, and when I disputed them on EQ they put them back on the others.

I also have some new accounts that may need to age before I go for an AMEX app. They were necessary though, because I had no open revolving accounts prior to them.

Re: Citi has no record of account.

I will wait for one of the collections to drop offf Dec 2012, then, PFD the other Kay collection next month

Hopefully capital one will have corrected the only one late i had with them dating Feb 2009. They said this week they would.

I will try to GW DCU on some lates I had with them on two account back in 2009. Both accounts have been PIF.

Also try to GW BoA on the three charged off cards that will be paid off Dec 2011. The lates were all in 2007.

So if all these work, my EX will be clean by next year. Then, I could apply for an Amex. I used to have th Optima platinum. But I would like something with airline rewards.
