Clarity Services - Unauthorized Inquiry

Been rebuilding my credit for a mortgage in a few months, today I get a ding from myfico that my score dropped 4 points due to an inquiry from Clarity Services. I have no idea who this is so I googled and found out it is a credit reporting company that obtains reports for pay day loans, buy here pay here car companies etc, I have never applied for anything of the sort. I googled and saw they are forming a class acting lawsuit in Illinois against this company for unauthorized pulls and there are many complaints with the BBB.... NOW what do I do??? I am calling them first thing in the morning, but what if they put up a fight and refuse to remove? I did not apply for anything that would warrant this at all and now it's not helping my score....

Frustrated.

Re: Clarity Services - Unauthorized Inquiry

This sounds like fraud.  I had this happen to me several months ago!  I had 500.00 deposited into my checking account???  So I asked the bank, got all the info.  Checked my credit & yes, same inquiry.  It was not me.  Someone was actually stupid enough to get a payday loan & have it deposited into my checking account.  I had the money taken out the next day & got the inquiry removed.  Change your debit card number right away.

See FCRA 616(a)(1)(B) for civil liability of a party for actual damages for obtaining a credit report under false pretenses or knowingly without a permissible pupose, and section 616(a)(2) for punitive damages.

Well! Thought I would post an update. I called Experian and they are removing this immediately, but here is a response I received back from clarity as well.. Just in case anyone else gets hit with this:

Re: Clarity Services - Unauthorized Inquiry

Well the inquiry was removed today and my scores did NOT go back up, including the mortgage score... Why didn't I gain back the four points I lost when the inquiry hit?

If nothing else changed from the time the inquiry was reported you have gained back the points, its most likely an inquiry being removed isnt a trigger to update the score.
