I currently have a collection for a plumbing bill dated 11/25/10 for $250.
This bill is not mine! I I requested a debt validation and they send me a statement of account along with a copy of the invoice and an invoice that is signed.
On the original invoice they have my first name (no last name), previous address - here is the thing.
The SIGNATURE OF THE PERSON WHO SIGNED - IS NOT ME? Nor even close to my signature. I am unaware of this.
What do I do? Do I send a letter? Would it be easier to get a PFD? or hire a lawyer to dispute?
Thank you for your help!
This sounds fishy, who's the collection company?
Another question, is it actually on your credit report? If not, I would just send a letter explaining what you just said. And that if it does somehow show up, dispute it with the credit bureaus. The statue of limitation should be up soon depending where you live. If you don't owe it, I wouldn't pay it.
