Collection acct under $100... Pfd?????

<p>I read online that collection accounts under $100 have no real impact on your credit score and wanted to know if there's any truth in this?</p>

<p>I have a collection account on my report for $55 for Trident Asset Mgmt and I've tried disputing it to no avail. I don't mind paying the $55 if they'll offer a pfd. However, if they dont honor it, since I dont believe I truly owe this debt, how much of an impact would keeping it on there do, if any?</p>

<p>Trident came off all of the other bureaus except Equifax. This is the only collection that's on my Equifax report. If removed, I'll have a totally clean report. I'll be applying for a mortgage this time next year!</p>

I don't believe that is true. Any collection is going to have a decent impact on your report. If you keep it there, it will continue to hold your scores down. Trying to pay for delete is the best thing that can happen, if possible.

Fico 8 will disregard a collection below 100 for scoring as its considered a nuisance collection. I would still try to resolve this, try the DV if you truly dont believe its yours or the PFD if you want to go for deletion.
