I was offered a settlement on an account in Collections. When I told them I needed it removed from my report they told me I had to pay in full in order for that to happen. Well, I was sent a paid in full letter and told that they had to request it be removed by the OC. They claim the OC still owns the debt, but CA is the one reporting. Has anyone heard of this happening before? IF the CA would have told me I would be getting the run around, I would NOT PIF! Whelp, here goes another battle.
Is the OC on your CR? Are they reporting a zero balance or is there a comment saying that it was sold off (usually on your TU report)? I say call the OC and see what they say. If they have no record of your account still in their possession, let the CA know.
It could have been an issue where the CA was only assigned the debt, it wasn't sold to them. If that is the case, you will need to GW the OC. The CA cannot make them delete the TL.
