Collections account

I had a collections accout that was about to age off.  They collections company closed the account and opened a new one with the old information.  Can they legally do this?

Re: Collections account

It doesn't change the DOFD unless they illegally re-aged the debt so it will still fall off at the DOFD.

Do you know the original DOFD and if so do you have legitimate proof because I doubt the CA does.

Re: Collections account

Yes I do.  I just ordered another credit report right before they did it.  It was in from 2011.  My credit score dropped almost 20 points as a result of them doing this. Do you think I should just go ahead and pay it but ask for a pay for deletion?

2011 items will start dropping off in 2018 and if you dont want them to update monthly then I would settle, try the PFD first and it they refuse that then negotiate to just pay if off for a lower than full balance especially if its past your states SOL. It is legal for them to do what they did.
