Hi Guys, I have a collection report on my credit report eventhough i paid back the total amount 5 months back.Does it remain in my history eventhough the amount is paid in full. If so how much time will it be there.I have proof of letter from the utilities company that i paid in full. Please advice
Thanks, John
Nope, paying in full does not mean that it comes off of your reports. It can stay on for a little over 7 years and they are not obligated to delete it, though it should say "paid" or something similar on your report. You should have tried to PFD (pay for delete), but that has to be negotiated before you paid. At this point you can try to do a goodwill letter (GW). Search around the forums for how to do this, there are instructions everywhere. It essentially involves you writing a letter asking them to please remove it as you've paid it, and if they're feeling particularly kind, they will.
Thanks for guiding...I'll have a try at what you said

Welcome to the forums,
Who's reporting on your CR (credit report)? and are they reporting correctly?
Looks like it might be time to send a GW.
Then definitely start the GW process. There can't be any harm. It's been paid, they can't make you pay it again. You might get 10 No's on your GWs but it only takes one yes. Good Luck.
Oh I get it now, dev12 and Revival12 you are the same person correct?
How is the CA ( collection agency ) reporting? paid or a balance?
Is the Utility company reporting too? if so, what are they reporting.

I'm thinking the same thing on that one.
