I have a collection account that has a dofd of 8/2015. I use Credit Karma. For the last two updates, I received a notification of a new account in collections. Can anyone tell me why this is happening? ?
There's your answer. First off, how can you have a DoFD in the future?

Maybe that account is reporting as late recently. If I had a collection agency, I would report the debt again (or update it as unpaid collection) the closer it got to the drop off date in an effort to potentially get the debtor to pay for a deletion. Just a thought.
Hope that helps..

OK. so the debt is approaching the 6 year old mark, good for it. Now you say this is on CK. CK is a 3rd party CR provider, so sometimes things get a bit skewed and can show things like this. Also, I"ve seen some CAs change up their information to cause this to happen on purpose. It's hard for me to tell what's going on here.
I take it the debt is unpaid, so it must still be updating though, and if so it is doing max damage. How much is the debt? What is the SOL of your state? In other words, can you provide a little more information?
