So I recently bought a home and they made me pay off all my collections. I called CMI and they indicated that $300 was unpaid service charges for Comcast Alexandria and the other $250 was for unreturned equipment. I knew I had returned the equipment, so they suggested I call Comcast. Comcast said my balance was $300 (approx.) and all my equipment had been returned. I paid the amount due to Comcast directly. CMI has now updated and shows an unpaid amount of $250. I called them to tell them this was an error and they must delete, as I don't owe them anything, and yet they couldn't even find my account. I originally disputed online and they showed updated with the $250 amount. So I sent a letter to the CRA's with the letter to comcast and copy of the certified check.
What are my options with this situation? I don't see it being deleted and yet, they can't even find my account. I am so frustrated with this.
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks!
anyone?
If CMI was reporting before you paid Comcast, they are only required to update to paid. They don't have to delete the account.
Does Comcast still own the debt? They need to let the CA know you do not owe the other money, it was a mistake. At the very least I would have Comcast send you a letter stating you owe nothing.
