Huh - I was always told that the courts do not report.....it will be interesting to see if OP finds out who reported.......
I am not sure where you heard this but it is not true.
Why, I heard it here at Myfico Forums.
I hate the state of Maryland. Born and raised and usually proud of it, however they only give you 30 days to try and get a judgement vacated!! Most other states give you a year, nope...not Maryland!
The information about the court reporting directly or a company collecting the information is totally irrelevant. A judgement will end up on your CRs one way or the other. It doesn't matter how it works in your court system.
If you had a court date you should have shown up even if you paid it. It is best to never ignore a summons even if you think there is no reason to show up. It is unfortunate that you had to learn the hard way. At least this way, this post will help someone else avoid the same problem.
You will possibly be able to get this all straightened out but it is going to take some time.
Best place to start is by figuring out what you have for paperwork.

Trust me, had I known they would proceed with a case even after I settled with the attorney, I would have been there. The law firm had told me this would satisfy the summons and the court date would be cancelled. Imagine my surprise receiving something from the court saying they ruled in favor of the plaintiff. Well I spent a good part of today at the district court and after talking to them, they decided it was best if I contact the attorney who filed suit. So that is what I did, and after arguing back and forth for the better of 10 minutes with a paralegal about it he consulted with the attorney who agreed to vacate the judgement! Win!! Now I get to have fun disputing with the credit bureaus to get the judgement deleted.
