I have two capital one credit card accounts that are open. I have never had a cap one account closed, but when I looked at the closed accounts on my Equifax report it shows a cap one account closed. On Equifax it says it was opened in Feb 2012 and closed in March 2012. It also says transferred and sold. Should I dispute this charge because I'm really not sure why it's listed?
Did you open a Cap 1 account in Feb 2012?
Can you post the TL as it shows on your CR?

The two accounts that I opened were open in May and Oct with cap one.
It is an account in good standing and is not hurting your score.
You can dispute as not yours if you want.
Well the issue is that its in the negative accounts grouping. I have unfortunately had late payments on my cap one cards in the past, so not only are the two open accounts showing in the negative accounts for a late from a few months ago, this closed account is also showing in the negative accounts section as well. That is why I am concerned because I think it might be affecting my score. So does that change anything? Thanks for your help.
If there were lates on the account, yes, it is affecting your score.
Instead of disputing with the CRAs and you know for a fact it is not yours there are 2 different routes you can take.
One would be to file a direct dispute ( below in my signature) with Cap 1 telling them it isn't yours.
A better way would be to fill out a fraud affidavit http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/resources/forms/affidavit.pdf and take it to the police station and file a report. Send both reports to the CRA and tell them to block the TL. The CRAs have to block the account and you are not required to prove fraud.
Also send both forms to Cap 1 and ask for all history on the account.
