Creditor filed judgement in county wife did not live in

So, I was looking at my wifes credit.  Back in 2009 Cap One obtained two judgements against my then girlfriend (now wife) for a credit card and a reposessed car.  We lived in an apartment at the time in one county, however had moved before the judgements were filled.  Anyway, the judgements were not filed in the county where we resided when she defaulted, or in the new county we lived in, but instead in the county my wife had lived in like 4 years prior to the default and the judgememnt.  Was that even legal?  I thought they had to do the judgement in the the county you lived in or at least in the last known county.

Kind of a gray area on this.  You could possibly contest how she was supposedly served.  I'm not a lawyer, but I believe that would be  your only course on this one.
