It will show on your Equifax report ~ the CA has to report a DOFD when they submit a collection on your reports.    Also it may show on the original creditor account in the payment history.

Any party, be they a creditor or debt collector, is required to report the DOFD on the OC account to the CRA within 90 days of any reporting of information pertaining to an account that has either been charged-off or referred for collection.  So the source of the information is your credit file.

If not provided in your CR, you can request it directly from the CRA by way of an information request under FCRA 609(a)(1).

Section 609(a)(1) requests must be accompanied by the fee of $11.00.
