I have one last collection on my report and last week I tried to DV it... today, I got a mail from the collection agency with the OC and the balance.....does this mean they validated my account??.. it's supposed to come off on 07/2013 or 08/13 but am wondering, should I just ask for PFD instead and pay it just to get it over and done with?? please advise

Let's take a look at this debt. What's the SOL of your state? How much is the debt for? This might make a bit of a difference in the tactic you use for a PFD.

Hi shogun... SOL here is 5 yrs (CA).. debt was for $673 (interest inluded)....

So you have a $673 debt that is past the SOL of your state and is scheduled to fall off in 8 or 9 months. I'd pay it, but I wouldn't pay all of it. Offer them a PFD for 50%. Be nice to them but don't acknowledge the debt is yours. For example.
I am writing you in regards to acct. #xxxxx. While I am by no means acknowledging this as a legitimate debt, I would be willing to show a gesture of goodwill and resolve this debt for $300 if you will return my gesture of goodwill and omit any and all postings pertaining to this debt from all the credit bureaus.. I do understand that this debt is past the SOL of my state and is nearing the time period of which it may remain on my credit report but I would be willing to resolve this now.
Anyway, put something like that on there. Send it in, see what they say. Good luck.

You're welcome, and yes,, defininitely offer less. If you're not embarassed to offer it, you didn't go low enough!

Letter I'd say. That way there's a paper trail.
