I have had some dates change from when a OC (CC) and CA are to drop off. Can this happen? It's pushing the 2 accounts back from this August to October (LVNV) and March 2013 (GECRB/Lowes). I was just going to ignore these 2 since they would drop off before I would be applying for a mortgage. What to do?
I'm assuming GECRB is the OC and LVNV is the CA for it?
Check the DOFD on the OC account first. The CA should be following that date, if anything.
Yes, GECRB/Lowes is OC with a date of 3/2013 for drop off and LVNV is the CA with a drop off date of 10/2012. (This is a TU updated credit file from 6/12/12)
Experian report shows LVNV to drop off 8/2012 but 2 different Experian reports show GECRB/Lowes DOFD as May 2006(pulled 5/30/12) and another shows June 2006 (pulled 6/7/12). I have not done a dispute or anything on these accounts.
EQ shows 6/2006 as DOFD for GECRB/Lowes but shows no dates or comment for LVNV( though date opened is 12/07 and date of last activity is 11/05)...
I am really confused now!
If the OC reported either a charge-off or a collection referral to your CR, they had a statutory requirement to have provided the DOFD on their account to the CRA within 90 days of that reporting, so the OC would have been charged with reporting their DOFD to the CRA.
Once the OC has reported a DOFD, the debt collector is required to report that same date. No discretion on their part. FCRA 623(a)(5).
Date changes to any other dates are irrelevant. CR exclusion is based solely on the reported DOFD on the OC account.
I've never actually attempted to do this, but can you just call the individual CRAs and get the DOFD that is reported for each?
RobertEG,
Sorry, do not follow.
I know that both TL's reported 8/2012 at one point because I have it on my "chart" as the drop off date. Now it's changed on some reports.
Do I contact CO and CA ? Do I dispute on CRA's?
Thanks for clarification.

I usually call the bureaus directly for DOFD, they will give you this info to the day if you ask.

Don't ask why, but I have every credit report I've ever pulled from each bureau going back to 04/2007. I've had account removal dates change to later ones and I've been able to send them a copy of an earlier report that shows the earlier date. The credit bureaus WILL honor these reports, you may just have to fax a copy to them and they'll remove based on that.
If the CRA wont provide the reported DOFD informally, you can file a formal information request under FCRA 609(a)(1), which entitles a consumer to receive directly from the CRA any information of record in their credit file. The current fee for section 609(a)(1) requests is $11.00.
