Debt after IIB

So long story short, all my debt that was dischargeable was discharged in my CH7 BK. ok kool, so what's the problem? I was going to see if I could join the CU that was IIB, but they removed the TL after it was showing IIB on my CR. I'm thinking ok, maybe I can be lucky enough to get back it and do just a savings account. I find out today they said no, and it says this:

"Our records indicate that you currently have an account with us and this account reflects a balance owed. You may make payment by visiting one of our branch locations or by mail at the following address". Um isn't that a NO NO? What should/could I do? I just don't want them to add it back on my CR since its not going to fall off for another 2-3 years. Funny thing is, the ONLY CA I have left on my reports is a CA that this CU sold the debt too. How is that even possible/legal for them to sell it to a CA and the OC still report a past balance. This is for an overdraft end checking account.

Re: Debt after IIB

No its not a no no.  If you want to get back in with them you will have to pay back what was owed.  If you don't want to bank with them again, then you never have to pay it.

They can not sell the debt or add it to your credit report since that would be a violation of the stay.

Re: Debt after IIB

Hmmmm. Ty Starry, but wouldn't the BK wipe that debt out? I won't bank with them at this point, but was just curious why the still said I have a balance if it was IIB

Re: Debt after IIB

Yes the debt is wiped out.  However, you have the option of willingly paying any debt that was IIB.  They are simply requiring that you make them whole before they will do business with you again.  If you don't care about banking with them again then don't worry about it.
