Denied for Walmart card

So I tried for the last card I want in my wallet (until I get to primeland).  I mean, don't get me wrong, I want a Discover and AMEX in my wallet, but for now I have MORE THAN ENOUGH.  So I applied and was denied.  I called the number and she told me she had no information to get the letter and call back (blah blah blah).  So my first question is, ho to get a recon?  How much time do I have for a recon?

Does Walmart offer secured credit cards?  I only want Walmart for their 5 cent gas break.  I have a Target card for $200.  Everybody has said Walmart is very bankruptcy friendly, but what to do?

TU is at 479?  These secure credit cards are useless.  My score is doing nothing......

Credit accounts: 30% APR auto loan (Jan 2012), Secured [CapOne (3K), PNC (1300), NFCU (1K), Coke (2500)] and Target (200)

Re: Denied for Walmart card

You will need to get your TU score up before walmart will approve you.  The way to do that is get a secured card and pay on time for at least 6 months.  You have plenty of options for the secured card.  Do some research on this site and you will find the card that will work for you.  No walmart does not have a secured card.

Re: Denied for Walmart card

I have 4 secured credit cards now.  CapOne ($3K), PNC ($1300), NFCU (800), and Coke CU (2500).  Plus unsecured Target for $200.  Getting the balances back in line, but  I see Walmart with gas at $3.10 where by me it's $3.65.   The credit card would make it $3.05.    It could be a hundred dollar limit.  Just give me the discount.  CreditKarma says if I pay my card balances to zero, I'll be at 500.  If I let the cards go into collections, 470.  18 months of good payment history.  Sorry, I'm depressed right now.

Where are you getting your scores ?  CK ?   If they aren't FICO scores then I would recommend pulling a FICO EQ or TU score at minimum to know where you really stand.

Re: Denied for Walmart card

I heard you have to have a score of at least 600 to try for Walmart? Don't know if there's any truth to that just hearsay

Re: Denied for Walmart card

+1. Walmart credit cards are issued by GE Capital. I had a TU score of 655 when I was approved in 01/2012. I was given a low CL of $600. To my knowledge they do not offer a secured Walmart card at this time.

OP, your score is too low for approval right now. It appears based on your score that you may have derogs such as BK, CO or CA's reporting on your CR at this time. Perhaps you should work on those before applying for any additional credit. Or, you can just let time go by and garden your secured cards.

Re: Denied for Walmart card

I just got approved for $250. I wanted for the gas discount but more importantly the Experian Fico score. I was denied in April and just reapplied. I thought I would be denied again cause I wasn't instantly approved but they sent me a letter saying to call their fraud prevention line. I had just moved and I had to answer some questions first.

Re: Denied for Walmart card

I applied and was denied too. My score was pulled by CU when I refinanced my car. My score is 630. I was discharged 1/10. Had two cap one cards, closed one last month 6/30 after PO never late. Bestbuy mastcard PO and closed 7/19, Target card, and line of credit at

CU $2k. debt to income ratio 30%. Walmart print out said they could not find a credit file for me and that the decision was not based on any info from CRAs. WTH? I read some places they are Bk friendly however I have seen them on not Bk friendly list from 2008 and 2009

Re: Denied for Walmart card

I got 2 secured cards with cap one and have seen an increase in my score 81 points but I did not have any credit (rebuilding) .so I know they are important to get. I pay $100 deposit each month towards the CL. I know when I go to apply for a unsecured cc they compare what your CL is with the other cards to determine what you qualify for. I am shooting for that 3000 CL with WF next year same time.
