Dental HIPPA question...

Are dental accounts considered medical?  I have a paid medical collection; hubby was the patient; insurance didn't pay all of the balance and it went to collections.  Has been paid since 03, do I follow the HIPPA process?

Re: Dental HIPPA question...

Yes! HIPAA applies to both medical and dental. GL and let us know how it goes.

Re: Dental HIPPA question...

No. You must dispute with the credit reporting agencies first. Send letter #1 (there are no inserts for letter #1, #2 has inserts), the pre-HIPAA dispute letter, to the CRAs CMRRR. Wait up to 35 days for the results. I assume this collection is paid?

Re: Dental HIPPA question...

Yes, definitely paid 5+ years ago.  I'll send letter #1 to each CRA, CMRRR and wait the 35days.  Then if need be I send #2 with insert.  I think I understand how this works.
