I am reading so many conflicting ideas/advice, I am completely overwhelemed and I have no clue what to do next. Our goal is to raise our credit scores in as quickly as we can. I realize neither one of us really have any revolving credit- and we will need to do something on that front to raise scores as well.. however my question is pertaining to our credit reports. I have listed the "goodies" from them, in hopes someone will take the time to look it over, and give their opinion on what steps we can take to raise our credit scores the fastest. (I realize because of legal reasons things cant be taken or given as financial advice yada yada). Should we try and settle/pay some of them in return for them being deleted? Write dispute letters to any of them? What ones? What can we do about the mountain of medical bills in collections? (We went through a few year period where we didn't have insurance for us or our children and now we're paying for it bad). What can we do about the the CA medical ones that are obvious duplicates on my CR? ANything else?
I tried to make this as easy as possible to read.....
This is going to be long... but this is mine and my husbands basic credit reports. We are looking for what we can do to raise our scores the fastest.

Hi and Welcome to the forums,
Credit repair does take time, but the time will go by pretty fast.
Yes sometimes you will get discouraged, but pick yourself up figure out what options you have and start again.
I understand from reading all of your post, that you want to get a home and the loan needs to be in your DH name.
Ok knowing that, Mortgage lenders do not like to see ANY late payments, in the last 12mos from applying for a mortgage loan.
So keep paying your bills on time, and that will avoid having anymore CA's.
Some things to know about collections or CA's.
a new collection with a CA, can hurt a CS as much as 80-100pts. Ouch.Collections then hurt a CS less and less as time goes on.
With recent CA, the OC may still own the debt.Contact the OC ask if accept payment and call back the CA.
A Paid or an unpaid collection reported on your CR,no score change.FICO see a collection as a collection, paid or not.
To see a score change, try to get the CA to agree to delete.By using a PFD letter for the unpaid CA and GW letters for the Paid CA.
Medical CA's can be handled 2ways, the first is the "HIPAA process" steps on not listed in this forum, Google it for more info.
Second way, just like anyother CA by using DV & PFD letters.
IME with Medical CA's, if the OC did not own the debt,I would ask who they sold it to.
if it was the same CA as listed on my CR, I would skip the DV letter and go straight to the PFD letter.
Now these were debt I knew the balances were correct and I did owe the debt.
Bruiseviolet,
On the medical CA's, the dates filed or dates opened mean nothing, that is just the date the CA received the debt.
The Date of Medical service (drs visit, lab test etc) is usually the DoFD.Also the date used for SOL.
The most recent CA is hurting his CS the most,Contact the OC see if they still own it,ask if they will accept payment and call back the CA.
If the debt was sold, then send a DV letter to the CA. If they verify and you agree, then send a PFD.
I hope this helps you,Credit repairing and rebuilding takes time. Do your homework--reading reading and more reading, then ask questions and more questions.Know your options, and run with the best one, and if that one doesn't work go to the next option.
Take a breath, you are doing the right thing Knowledge is Power. Good Luck to You.
Take your time in decisions because, mistakes can and do happen when we are trying to do things too fast.
ETA: Here is a thread that maybe helpful to you, if you havent read it already.....What Steps Do I Take? DV? PFD?

Thank you so much for your response. Unfortunately my husband was recently laid off- so I have a feeling that has shot our chances our getting a house soon. We are however, still going forward with cleaning our credit up. =) I really appreicate the time you took to answer the questions and look things over- your advice has been VERY helpful- I will be happy to report back down the road- just how much it has helped =)
