DirecTV Inquiry??

Yesterday I signed up for cable service with DirecTV. Today I received a SW alert saying that I had a new hard inquiry from DirecTV. I do not recall them ever stating that they would check my credit and I don't recall agreeing to it. Is this a permissible purpose?

[ Edited ]

Thanks! It's not that big of a deal since I currently have zero inquiries in the last 12 months and only 1-2 in the last 24, but I was surprised to see that they pulled my credit!
