I disputed a student loan balance with Equifax on 7/6/2011however have not received a response from them yet even though it is more than 45 days. What are my next steps? The collection account is showing a balance of $14,000+ however there is no balance due to a pay off from s settlement made. I have provided the zero balance letter that Citibank has provided to me however the account numbers are not matching up since equifax is using my social security number as the account number versus the actual account number Citibank uses. I am going through the mortgage process so I need this dispute cleared up ASAP or removed entirely if Equifax is unabe to verify it. What do I do next since the 30-45 day dispute period has expired for Equifax?
Thanks for any tips anyone can provide.
I am desperate does anyone know what I can do for this suitation?

Try contacting Citibank again and seeing if they can provide you with a letter stating there is no such account with account number such and such. I understand there was an account with account numbers but if your social number does not provide an account then Citibank may oblige.

Thank you, I did not think of that!
