Re: Disputes closed but not removed

No.

Paying prior their having reported is not the determining factor.

If the debt collector had collection authority at time you paid the OC, then they can still report that fact to a CRA.

Most debt collectors report their collection as a means to further collection on the debt, and wont report after a debt is paid.  However, that does not preclude them from doing so.  It is still accurate to report to your credit file the fact that they had collection authority.

Deletion of a collection based on termination of collection authority is not a statutory requirment found within the FCRA or a requriment of any regulation.

It is simply a policy of the CRAs that is intended to prevent plural, simultaneous collections from appearing in a consumer's credit report.

That is not an issue when you choose to pay the OC while the debt collector still has active collection authority, and thus is not basis for applying the CRA policy of deletion.

Re: Disputes closed but not removed

Just an update on the CA that said they would no longer report on my CR, they now are no longer there !

I had received a letter and email from them saying they would stop and this account was pd to the OC months prior to them getting it. It has hurt in getting offers and pre-qualifications but now it's gone !

There are some, at least GLA Collection Company did ...it was long ...
