I read previous posts on here about this. Does Macy's still do that on CO accounts?
I called customer service and tried to pay in full but she wouldn't take my money. She said I had to go through the CA. I was going to try the recovery department with a number I found on this board.

They do not why?
They did for me! They had closed my account, and I was able to call the number on the back of the card, and worked out a payment arrangement. The cs rep I spoke with then said that once I had teh bal down to zero, I could call back and they would reopen the card. I did that, and they reopened it with a significantly lower cl. Whatever, I was just happy that it was open again. I posted a thread on it as well...you can search for it gotta run ;-) also, the card is still reporting as closed on my report, but al the other info is correct...I called using the backdoor number, and they said that would let all three bureaus know that it's open again, yippee. My score should go up then.

I would think that depended on a few things. When did the account go south, how much are you behind, and whether or not they will accept the money. Find out if they own the account or just assigned it to the CA.
I called, and the wouldn't do it for me. Oh well. Mine was originally a Hechts account and i was always able to use it at Macy's and my statements started coming from them. Maybe that's why. At least this lady told me I could send my payment directly to Macy's and that the CA would not report on it. She (in the recovery department) told me they do not allow their CA's to report, that only Macy's reports. So I am going to send them the money and then try to goodwill them some. At least it will be paid.
