Does a CA still have to furnish info on a paid debt?

I have a paid medical CA from 2010 that I'm trying to GW. Services were rendered in 2007. When I pulled my account I noticed that it is listed as a joint account. I called the CA and inquired about a GW and they declined, I then asked them to verify the date of service, etc. and he could only tell me that the service date was sometime in 2007. I'm concerned that this was for my husband and not for me. At this point, the dental office has no records on it. The CA stated that it wasn't their responsibility to provide me with the OC info due to the age of the acct which I think is bologne. My question is, can I dispute this with the CRAs? they obviously don't have the info to verify and I'm not going to do the leg work for it (that's what the CA told me I should do - find the info for it on my own). Ideas?
