Don't Know Where to Start / Need House In a Year / Need Direction

I have one delinquent on my credit:
Date of 1st Delinquent: 2/2009 with a cell company (not even sure this is really something from me - haven't been with that company for way before 2009) it's for $132

nothing else shows on my report ( however havent run a report since 2012)

my wife has amazing credit, several cards and the house is in her name and her mothers.
We are looking to move into a newer house in the next year to year and a half

I did have a First Progress card, that I never used so they closed the account and sent me my money back.

I am looking to actually have some credit and also help with the mortgage that will be upcoming.
How should I remove that cell company delinquency?
Should I apply for credit cards? what kind?
I also read somewher that I should try to get put on my wife's credit cards? is this helpful?

Thanks... in the dark but trying to find a direction

Pull all 3 credit reports to check for anything good or bad, do a DV for the collection account. And yes being added as an Auth User on a positive tradeline will help your credit score.

Welcome to the forums!

I would first and foremost pull your NEW credit reports and see what they have on it. As far as credit cards, I like starting with capital one or maybe your banking institute.

You want to request your updated reports via US Mail and get hard copies they have more info on them than a disclosure online gives.
