Hi everyone,
I'm new to the forums. I've been reading all the great advice that everyone has regarding credit, and I'm really excited to be part of this community.
Currently, I'm in the midst of cleaning up my credit. Last couple of years were tough, but I'm finally getting myself back on my feet.
Currently on my reports-Equifax/Experian it's showing that I owe on the same loan twice.
The orginal creditor was One Main Financial (I know foolish) it was then charged off and given to a collection agency Midland Funding.
However, on the credit reports it is showing in my "installment loans" section that my balance is much higher than it should be, $7,863. The original charge off amount from One Main was $4,136. I've paid a little, and on Midland it's reporting as $3,727.
My question is, through a "dispute" with credit agencies, do I have a chance at getting the One Main Financial balance to report as $0? I mean it would only seem logical, as they dont' hold the loan. I really owe Midland, and that is the balance that should be reporting.
Any advice?
Thanks a whole bunch everyone! :-)
One of the 2 should be removed
Either the OC or CA have no right to report the same debt
Welcome to the forum
Great! That's what I was thinking. I appreciate the response.
I sent an online dispute through Experian and in writing to Equifax.
So we shall see. ::crossing fingers::
