Re: Duplicate accounts on CR

Wait a minute, does the difference between DOFD mean that this was reaged? If so, what can I do?

Don't touch the first one. It is reporting OK.

IMO, don't trust the dates on your CR. You can call each CRA and ask for DOFD or you could pull your EX and/or TU report if these are posting on those and look for a drop off date. Look for any changes in the month.

You could always offer a PFD to the 2nd if you agree with them.

Re: Duplicate accounts on CR

Ok So pull TU or EX and check what they are reporting. I'll report back as soon as I get it. DH is bringing those from work today.

Re: Duplicate accounts on CR

And I wasn't too clear in my post.....TU and/or EX as pulled directly from those CRAs rather than a 3rd party like myFICO or TC.

You'd want to look for the drop off date. If you subtract 7 yrs from that date you get an accurate DOFD as read by the CRAs. If your DOFD using this method differs from what you know as the real DOFD, then there maybe was some re-aging done at some time. Though, I don't think it would be enough to hang them on.

Jefferson Capital and their relationship to others like Aspire, Aspen, and the like have gotten them in hot water with the FTC and the FDIC. You can actually see a good thread in the "Credit in the news" section about all of this. They lately have been generous with GWs, maybe even PFDs too.

Re: Duplicate accounts on CR

Uhm... should I still  try to PFD even if its within SOL? In CO (where I am) it's 6 years. Just for the record DH not only has NO paper trail on any of these things but he also has REAlLY bad memory. He seems to think these particular balances are incorrect/not his.

Re: Duplicate accounts on CR

There is more than one post regarding this same situation from others.

Do you know who the OC is or could be?

I'm just wondering if one is the OC reporting and the other is their collection department reporting. HSBC does this.

When does SOL expire? That goes from DOLA.

As llecs mentioned, get your reports directly from the CRA so you can see more information.

If you haven't gotten you free annual reports, I would do so.

Re: Duplicate accounts on CR

Ok, now I have all the papers on this. Both EX and EQ show these two accts.

We have NO idea who the OC is - I did some research online and it seems to be Citi but I'm not sure. The original OC that shows $0 balance/sold or transferred is Columbus Bank & Trust.

SOL expires 07/2011

EX gives a little extra information saying  it is assigned to attorney, collection agency or OC's internal collection dpt.

We did receive an offer from settlement from Northland Group for 50% - but it doesn't seem like they own it. If they don't own it, do they have the authority to accept a PFD?

Re: Duplicate accounts on CR

You can only PFD with the one reporting.

Did you have accounts with Citi or Columbus Bank and Trust? Were they unpaid?

You need to track down who Sst/Columb and who Sst/Cigpf1 is.

Under creditor contacts on your CR, get the address that these companies is reporting and google it.

I am thinking that Columb= Columbus Bank and Trust and that Cigpf1 = Citi.
