I have a dispute with Equifax (currently under investigation), but my score increased 4 points and there is no resolution as of yet... is this normal?
Normal, Nothing is normal with Equifax!!

Yes, certain aspects of the TL are removed from Fico scoring as it goes through the dispute process. Once the dispute is resolved all attributes will again be scored.
