OK I'm very confused about this situation.
First I tried to get a credit limit increase on my Capital One account. Simple right? Well they called back and said their was a security freeze on my Equifax report. Told her no problem I'd call back after I get it taken care of.
I went to Equifax's website and attempted to remove the security freeze, but it says there isnt one and the only option is to place one on my account.
I dont know where to go from here, how is that even possible?
Call equifax.
*your file might be damaged/split/frozen without your consent.
I tried their phone number but they keep asking for a confirmation number for a dispute (which I dont have).
Is there a different number to try for them?
Thanks for your response!

Mods, move/delete this if you need to. I think it's public knowledge.
