I had 2 accounts in dispute, both HSBC. The TLs have been updated, and I received information back from all 3 bureaus with the dispute results. However, all were still showing dispute statements.
I called Transunion- the statement was gone within minutes. Same with Experian. Fast forward to Equifax. I called and asked for the statements to be removed. I was told there's no record the accounts were ever in dispute. I said then why are there dispute statements? Remove them. Then I was told- oh, ok- I see that we sent the dispute information to HSBC but they never responded. Then I said- well doesn't your policy say if they don't respond within 30 days the TL is deleted? These disputes were filed in December 2012, so delete them. Then it went back to there is no dispute statement.
So I asked for a supervisor. Same thing. Then I requested to speak with that person's supervisor. After being on hold for over 30 minutes, I was told HSBC needs to send written documentation to Equifax for the statements to be removed.
I called HSBC. They said they're not sending anything, because Equifax is the one that placed the statement on there when I filed the dispute, and they are not responsible for removing it- that it's an Equifax issue and I need to contact them.
How in the world do I get these things off?
I remember dealing with this particular situation when I was apping for a mortgage. Equifax just wanted to open a dispute on the dispute. I told them it wouldn't work. I complained enough that they put me through to "special handling", then it took 30 seconds.
I think what the CRA is saying is that the OC has not verified the debt. If that is the case they need to remove the TL. At least until the OC does respond.
Great...I will try calling back and asking for that department! This is crazy.

Yeah- I went rounds w them on that one. But then suddenly they "found" where if had been verified and updated. And I do have results from them showing this, so I know the OC responded. Darn it!! LOL

They were taken over by Capital One. The responses I received back from them though have still been on HSBC letterhead and listed at the bottom its says something about it being owned or an affiliate (or something like that) w/Capital One). When I called the # on my credit report, I reached someone who answered the phone as HSBC. It's craziness. I did call Capital One CS and they told me to call the HSBC # on my CR.
Can you PM me the Equifax phone number for this month that you used? I also have a "consumer disputes comment" on a GOOD account that I need removed before I can close on a house. They change their number every month and I really need to speak to a live person.
They opened a dispute for my dispute of my dispute comment. I need to push it faster.
Also they have had a dispute open on me since 3/2012 for a Midland collection account that I disputed that I need closed before i can close on this loan. This has been in dispute for almost a year.

Yeah- super hard to find a # for them. Finally, I called the # they have listed for the free credit report copy, and then after going through a ridiculous menu, finally decided to click on anything at all that got me a representative. Then I told them what I wanted...they said I had the wrong department...and I asked them to transfer me to the right one. It was a pain in the butt! But, I'll still pm you the # I used....
