Experian can't give me a FICO score.

Is this a good or bad thing for someone trying to rebuild?

Started on July 4th, 2016 with 400's FAKO scores, no FICO, a dozen baddies and no credit of any kind.

As of March 2018, Before The Fall:
AmEx Blue Cash Everyday: $12,600
Chase Sapphire Preferred: $10,000
Bank Of America BankAmericard: $6,000
Capital One Quicksilver One: $5,500
Citi Diamond Preferred: $5,400
NFCU Cash Rewards Visa Signature: $5,100
NFCU Go Rewards MasterCard World: $5,000
Wells Fargo Propel: $3,500
Barclay's Uber Visa: $2,500
AmEx Starwood Preferred Guest: $2,000
Citi Double Cash: $1,500
AmEx Hilton Honors: $1,000
Discover It: $600
Capital One Platinum: $500

TOTAL 2018 CREDIT LINE: $61,200

JUNE 2023 UPDATE
2020: COVID toppled me. All old accounts went into default. Business lost. Car repossessed.
2021: Cap1 let me back in (one secured/two not). Secured Mission Lane. AU on AMEX Gold, Citi Premier and Chase Sapphire. Car loan approved without cosigner for $20,000. All current.
Currently: No lawsuits. Thinking most SOL have expired on CC debt. Fingers crossed my math and memory are correct.

CURRENT SITUATION:
Mission Lane Secured: $3,400 (SL $400 -- unasked for CLI)
Capital One Secured: $300
Capital One QS1: $300
Capital One Savor: $1,000
Chase Sapphire Preferred: $10,000 (AU)
AMEX Gold: No Preset Limit (AU)
Citi Premier: $8,500 (AU)

Depends on your credit history. If you have none there might no not be an actually score. If you have lots of baddies it can just be a low really low fico

Don't worry about the inability to get a score. Same thing happened to me. It means that there isn't any credit history on your reports to create a score. It'll take 6 months of having something reported to get a score. Even if it's a really low score it would show a score.

Re: Experian can't give me a FICO score.

My mother had not gotten a credit card in years. Her house and car are paid for. She decided to get a credit card for emergencies. About a year ago, I made her an AU on Barclays and Amex. She applied for cap 1 with only a EQ score and qualified for VS1 and QS. Then went on to get EDP and BCP, plus Walmart MC and PayPal MC. So it is possible to qualify for credit without a reportable score.

This isn't necessarily true.

I had no credit score because my entire credit history at the time (before the merged/split file stuff was fixed) was collections.

You need 6 months of traditional open credit history to generate a score.

If you're not sure what is on your reports, you should request copies of them.

I have collections. 8 on TU (five about to fall off). Only two baddies on EX or EQ. No open accounts. Both cards are in the mail. Btw, why do so many report to TU and not the rest?

That is precisely why you don't have a score. No open accounts.

You'll get a score once your cards have been open for 6 months.

No idea about the reporting practices. I'd guess it's just whatever they pay for as often times that's enough to get the job done.

OP, have you had accounts before but are now closed that show on you credit reports? If so, maybe as soon as your Cap One and Discover cards start showing up on your reports, it gets to generate scores. Good luck!

Re: Experian can't give me a FICO score.

Different CRAs are showing different things. All three show a charge off from Kohl's for 421 dollars from January 2015 (I've contacted Kohl's about a PFD). TU has collections from two auto insurance companies (both one month's bill that was never paid when I moved), cable (same reason), phone (same reason), unpaid court collections from 2009 (set to drop in September), and a collection from an eviction (set to drop in mid 2017). EQ and EX just have the unpaid cable collection, along with the Kohl's Charge off.

Re: Experian can't give me a FICO score.

I've had to have a open account for 6 months before my score was generated.
