So, I apped for a credit card. Experian dropped 8 points, TU stayed the same, and Equifax increased FORTY points???!!! What the what??? Is that normal?

I'm going to guess that you applied for a card that only pulled EX. I'm guessing some other factor changed on your EQ report.
Hmm. personally I have never heard of anything like this ,but I will say that it is safe to assume that there is somekind of behind the scenes action going on that brought your score up . Keep on monitoring your credit report , I am sure there is a logical explanation to this 40 point increase ( Which I would consider a substantial bump) . Good luck !
I agree that there's some logical reason but who knows what it is. My experian score just jumped 28 points out of nowhere. Nothing drastic changed for me. My utilization hasn't changed much. No derogs were removed. Is ths card you apped for one that's already reporting? If so it could have lowered your utilization
