Paying a debt updates the current account status to paid.  It is no longer delinquent.

However, current status is only a snapshot of status as of the last reporting.  It provided no historical information.

The charge-off is retained in payment history and in scoring regardless of change in current status from last reporting as a CO to current reporting as paid.

As current status is updated, prior derog are retained under payment history, and prior status is also separately retained in your payment rating code.

 

Much of the discussion of errors in reporting based on current status is primarily related to placement of the deck chairs within your credit file, and not the substance or accuracy of the information.

 

I am not quite sure exactly what is being asserted as inaccuracies in reporting.....

It can't hurt to keep sending GW letters, since I have 3.5 years to work on this until it drops off.

 

1 an week by email and 1 a week by postal. Maybe they will just get tired and give in.....Maybe they will just continue to garbage them....who nows.
