Finally done lurking...now a quick question...Credit Protection Association

I have been cleaning up my CR for the last month or so. I've just been getting errors off and this point and finally going to start working on the negatives in collections. 

I have one account with Credit Protection Association for $157. It is for an old cable (mediacom bill). I can PIF. But, I want it off my report. So, here are my questions:

1. If I PIF, will that re-start the 7 year period? I'm in year 4 as it is and would have to start over. This is due to come off Jan 2015.

2. Should I just pay it or attempt a PFD? Anyone have luck with CPA and PFD??

How old is the cable bill? If you can afford to PIF, then I would send a PFD letter (samples can be found in the forums here). I have never worked with this CA, but I've had luck with PFD arrangements in the past. Raised my score 60pts in just a month with PFD's

The bill is from October 08. I am in Alabama, and can't find the SOL anywhere regarding utility bills!
