I have a charge off from First Premier that I am wanting to pay. The only number I can find for them is an automated system that requires you to enter a cc#, which I don't have anymore. I finally got through to a person and he was able to look me up by my social. He said the account was still in their system, and had not been charged off. He then transferred me. Well that person could not find any account and said they must no longer own it. She was not helpful at all as she could not tell me who has the account. What should I do now? I really need to pay this as it is killing my utilization. I received a settlement offer from a CA (First National Collections) , but I am not sure it is legit and don't want to pay them if they are trying to scam me. Suggestions?

Does First Premier show a balance on your CR?

Yes, they are reporting a balance of $403, although in the comments is says bad debt, charge-off.
