Hello,
I have read through the forums and learned a ton of valuable information. I greatly appreciate everything that the community has shared with others. Calvalry recently bought out a credit card debt from Citibank. They listed the account as opening in April when it is an account from 5 years ago. What is the best way to get this fixed. I have writted my verification letter to mail to Calvalry, but I was not sure if this is the best/fastest way to correct the information. Should I also dispute with equifax at the same time?

The April open date is likely the date it was assigned to Calvalry. They will show that date, but it does not change the DOFD and it does not reset the clock on the maximum allowed reporting period.

The date opened reported by a debt collector is of the opening of their colleciton, which can be reported as the date they received their collection authoriity.

Thank you for the responses. I just wanted to make sure everything was appearing correctly. The reason I felt like they are providing bad information is due to the notes on my credit report. It has a note saying my time since late was 5 months ago. All 3 agencies are reporting under different names, dates opened, account status, and contact address.
