Just wanted to update this thread, in case people still randomly come across it.
One year ago from right now we were 10k+ in credit card debt. Now our savings account is the one with the balance. My credit score has gone from 604 to 729 in less than a year and we are well on our way towards owning a home
If I had a message for people reading this in the same situation it would be to focus on the debt. The hard work put into that is rewarding in many ways and you see real world results as you go along as you're increasing your spending power at a constant rate. Nothing came near to helping us as much as that did.
