GW Letter for Closed accounts with Acct # Unknown?

Has anyone else had this experience and what was your solution.   I am attempting to send GW letters to several closed accounts with some 30 day late payments; however, I no longer have the account numbers as a reference for the credit card company and the credit reports do not show the last four of the account numbers.  Has anyone else run into this issue and how were you able to resolve it so the GW letters could be sent out?

For me,  I just called in and stated that I needed the full account numbers for my records.   They were able to verify me by SSN.

For me, I have sent GWs with the know digits of the account numbers listed & just XXXX for the rest, just as shown on the report. With my name, & possibly a $ amount or whatever, never had a problem with them not being able to identify the account I'm writing about. I like SunriseEarth's response, too. You've got this! :-)

That information is more than enough for them to identify you.

Not certain if it is recomended; however, i have included my SS# on letters sent to creditors via certified mail.
