GW letter to Amex SUCESS!!!!

I had a $2,120 AmEx bill that I paid in 06 but lists a balance date of 1/09 at $0. Comments say: PAID COLLECTION ACCOUNT CLOSED BY CREDIT GRANTOR

I wrote a goodwill letter to Amex (addressed using the address on my CR) asking them to delete from the credit burueas - saying that I'd been terribly ill and had now recovered and was trying to repair my credit.

Lo and behold, they wrote me back and said they would delete and to "let them know if there was anything else they could do and they were happy to work with me".

I can't believe it actually worked!! I can't thank everyone enough here for all the valuable advice. It gives me such motivation to keep charging ahead in this credit repair battle!

WOW!! Good work. I sent a two GW letters last week. Hopefully I get the same results you did!

Just sent my GW off to Amex last week, I'm hoping for similar success and I'm hoping my perfect history with my Amex Optima will help me but we shall see what happens.

Wow, congrats!! I've been trying to GW them for a couple months now, but they keep on asking for more and more documentation....not sure why. May I have the contact info you used as well? Maybe trying another avenue might work. Thanks!!
