Re: GW to Asset Acceptance?

Yo G35!

Did you do this? Did it work?

I still have 2 Collection accounts from Asset reporting, one that was transfered to someone else (and paid) and one that I just finished paying off this month. It would be so friggin awesome if they were receptive to GW letters. So far they have been no help whatsoever with the small collection that they sold to someone else.

Re: GW to Asset Acceptance?

This thread is a year old. But has anyone had any success with GW to Access Acceptance Collections?

Additionally, did anyone get a PFD or able to settle for 70-80% of debt?

Thanks!

Re: GW to Asset Acceptance?

I had an $538 charge off from a Chase CC go to Asset Acceptance.  Long story short, after speaking with a CSR that didn't understand credit reporting, she transferred me to her supervisor who told me that it won't report if I pay it within 30 days.  I paid it, and it never showed.

The interesting thing is that he told me that he knows all about PFDs, GWs, PIFs, etc.  But their policy is to never remove tradelines. Even if it means not making their money.  Stupid in my opinion, but I am glad they aren't on my report.

Good Luck.

Re: GW to Asset Acceptance?

Thanks for sharing this. Seems like it is better to ask for a PFNR - Pay For Not Reporting instead of a PFD. Interesting strategy with the same results. Did you pay without anything in writing? I probably would if the supervisor told me he would do it, but I'd still be scared to chance it.

I have a very large unpaid (mostly interest) balance with them and a small balance that I settled with them. There is no way that I will settle the large balance $8000 w/o something in writing. In fact, I think I'll just let it fall off next year. They keep dinging my CR with 120 day lates on the settled account which causes 2 point drops each month.

I wonder if I could report them to BBB for that?

Re: GW to Asset Acceptance?

I had no reason not to believe him.  In my experience, when you get a letter from a new collection, if you pay within 30 days, it won't report.  (DV it obviously).

However, I would still try to get a PFNR if you feel uneasy.  If it is already reporting, I just wouldn't pay and let it fall off.  As long as it is beyond SOL, they can't sue, so they better work with you.

Re: GW to Asset Acceptance?

Both are already reporting, so I will let them fall off next winter. If they would work with me, I'd pay them, but I sent them a DV for the $8000 account and they sent me their own internal invoice of the balance, not an original copy from the OC. Thanks for letting me know. You don't have any contact info. from the supervisor, do you?

Re: GW to Asset Acceptance?

No, I didn't write anything down.  Just call them and ask for a supervisor.  My experience is regular CA CSRs are hard to deal with.
