HELP! Same Credit Score for Past 18 Months- How Can I raise 30 more points?

Hi,

First of all, I am so grateful that I was able to find this community. Thank you everyone for your wisdom and guidance. In 2012, I was able to make some really substantial leaps in my credit score. However, since December 2012, my credit score has plateaued between 701-719. and I am wondering what else I can do to bump my credit score up???? My goal is to raise my score to 740 or above. I have a mortgage and home equity loan from back in 2006 when rates were much higher, and I want to refinance my home equity loan in the next 30 days and then refinance my mortgage after that.  Thank you in advance for your advice and suggestions!!!!  Smiley Happy

I have 3 derogatories and at this point I don't think I can get them deleted. I have sent several rounds of letters in  2012 and 2013 and these are the 3 are the remaining on my credit report.

Derogatories:

1) Citicard:  60 days late in Nov 2007, 90 days late in Dec 2007, 120 days late Jan 2008, 150 days late in Feb 2008. Then, 60 days late in Sept 2009, 60 days late Nov 2009. Status: Paid. Closed. Closed under credit grantor's request.

2) SPS (mortgage) - 30 days late Sept 2009, 60 days late Oct 2009, 90 days late Nov 2009, 30 days late Feb 2010, 30 days late March 2010. status: Account is in good standing and has been since April 2009

3) Verizon- Status: Paid in settlement. $116 written off. First reported April 2007. Will remain on credit report until October 2014.

Open Credit cards: Total  Limit: $11,450. 1% ulitilization. Avg Age = 6 yrs 1 mo

American Express Platinum Delta SkyMiles: Balance $153, Credit Limit $4,000. Opened Nov 2013

Capital One: Balance $0, Credit Limit: $750. Opened Jan 2011  (this is my first credit card I opened to reestablish credit back in 2011. Capital One does not allow credit increases on this card, because it is a "starter" credit card.)

Citibank Line of Credit: $900, Balance $0

Discover- Balance $0, Credit Limit $4300

Banana Republic- Balance $0, Credit Limit $1200

Macy's- $0 balance, Credit Limit $1200

- I have been hesitant to increase my credit limits, because I am afraid this may effect my refinancing application if I have too much open credit?

Mortgages:

$598,000 on primary home - since 2013

$37,000 Home Equity Loan (I wan to refinance this)  had since 2006

FICO should group those INQs together to score as one.  Plus, they are only scored for the first year, though they stay on for 2.

Have you been sending in GWs for those negatives?

Starting Score: 504
July 2013 score:
EQ FICO 819, TU08 778, EX "806 lender pull 07/26/2013
Goal Score: All Scores 760+, Newest goal 800+

Current scores after adding $81K in CLs and 2 new cars since July 2013
EQ:809 TU 777 EX 790 Now it's just garden time!

June 2017 update: All scores over 820, just pure gardening now.

Hi Shogun,

Yes, I sent GW for the negatives. I was denied each time.

Any other advise?

Thanks in advance!

Closed under credit grantor's request.Major derogs on here, 90 and 120 day lates.  Good news is that the major derogs are getting really old.  the last major one I see was in Jan 2008, so in Jan of 2015 the major ones will be gone.  The remaining lates I see listed are 60 day lates.  They are minor derogs.  They only sting really bad the first year, and really don't factor in after 2 years.  I have some 30 day lates that are 5 years old and FICO scores over 800.

2) SPS (mortgage) - 30 days late Sept 2009, 60 days late Oct 2009, 90 days late Nov 2009, 30 days late Feb 2010, 30 days late March 2010. status: Account is in good standing and has been since April 2009  All minors....  and old.

3) Verizon- Status: Paid in settlement. $116 written off. First reported April 2007. Will remain on credit report until October 2014.  Almost gone!

Re: HELP! Same Credit Score for Past 18 Months- How Can I raise 30 more points?

Thanks Shogun. It's just been frustrating to see my credit score stay the same since Dec 2012. I was hoping to get some insight on how to get my score to 740. Will my credit score not improve until the last 3 negatives fall off my credit report?

Starting Score: EX: 592 (2/2012), EQ: 592 (2/2012), TU: 604 (2/2012)
Current Score: EX:719 (12/2012), EQ: 711 (12/2012), TU: 711 (12/2012)
Goal Score: above 740 for all 3

Re: HELP! Same Credit Score for Past 18 Months- How Can I raise 30 more points?

By the looks of it, you've maxed your util, so nothing to do there.  Only time can heal now is what I see.  You'll get some bumps when those baddies fall off.  And these INQs.

Number of hard inquiries on my credit report = 17 (All but 2 of these were all from shopping for a mortgage for my primary home purchase in 2013.)

1. Bank   2 Oct 18, 2013 2. Credit Union   5 Jul 12, 2013 3. Miscellaneous, Not Elsewhere Classified   6 Jul 17, 2013 4. Finance   2 Nov 23, 2012 5. Real Estate/Public Accommodations   2 Aug 22, 2013

FICO only scores them for one year, though they stay on for 2.  You could see some small increases as some of these pass the 1 year mark.

Re: HELP! Same Credit Score for Past 18 Months- How Can I raise 30 more points?

One more thing,,, if you can raise those CC limits via SPs, no HPs, I'd go for it.  You're not showing really high CLs, so why not get a boost on those if you can.
