I was calling in to pay a old debt to LCA for a medical collcetion $53 bucks. Sooo the rep begins to ask if I wanted to pay the remaining bills? I asked what remaining bills. She says I have 4 bills from 05 and 06. I proceeded to tell her that I wanted to pay what was on my credit report only and to send me proof of the remaining bills. Did i just mess up????? What just happened.....i have a bad feeling about this
Whats the SOL in your state? In WI you would be past that, but it could be reported to the CRA still
Ditto. Definitely consider SOL if $$$ is owe on other accounts and if that SOL hasn't expired yet (assuming you don't have 100% saved to prevent a judgment).
I wouldn't call them anymore. You also would not benefit, score-wise, by paying it without a deletion agreement in place first. A $0 balance CA is equally damaging as one at $10,000.
I would send a DV and specify the account number for that debt if LCA had given one to you in their correspondence to you. If they verify and you agree, then mail a PFD (do not call) and specify that $53 plus any account number.
