I agree I don't want it hanging around, but let's see if I do owe it. I think we bk'd our Direct TV account, in fact, DH is sure of it. So we will see.
But did you opt right back out?

If he admitted they have an old address then get them to settle then delete if paid. They will tell you "We do not delete in exchange for payments" but tell him it is because you didnt get the letter they sent out or else you would have paid it within the 30 days of receiving it before it went on your credit report

I THOUGHT I WAS DONE WITH THIS CRAP.
I OPTED BACK IN AND NOW LOOK WHAT HAPPENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If a collection agency can do anything to ruin your life they will do so with pleasure -- I am convinced of that! And, I'm not too sure it matters whether you are opted out or not because, I have been opted out for awhile now and still got hammered with both a hard inquiry by one collection agency and the reporting of a re-aged collection from another. I sicked the BBB on both of them and, thankfully, they are gone off my CRs. But, if a collection agency can find a way to do harm and damage, they will!
Yes, I opted out again yesterday.
It's weird, Discernment...I've been buying a mortgage, a car, refi'd a car - doing lots of things. But within 3 weeks of opting in, this pops up? Seems pretty fishy to me!

Aren't you kinda confusing intentional life-ruining with forcing someone to pay an otherwise uncollectible debt? A lot of people would never pay if they didn't need to.
It hit TU today, lost 37 Credit Karma Points.
Did I send that DV letter in a timely manner since I never got a "dunning notice?" - I sent it the day it hit my first report. ????????????
Sent the DV CMRRR and never heard a word from them aside from updating all the credit reports to "consumer disputes." This dropped the CRAP out of my TU. Since they never responded to the DV, I'm hoping the dispute falls into the 1-2 punch trick, and it comes off. If it doesn't, then what?
I am NOT paying it. EX has it being removed next March. How is that that 3 CRA's have different drop off dates anyway? DOFD was June 2006.
I just disputed it w/ TU and will see what they do.
