HOW MANY HARD INQUIRES?

Just a general question.  What number should you try to keep your hard pulls at? I have 3 on each credit report.  I'm was thinking that the limit should be 5 and no more. Or I might be wrong.  Anyone?

When I found these forums I had over 30 each on EX and EQ and close to 10 on TU, all of which were under a year old, and I still got approved. Inquiry damage is overrated. Though...this certainly isn't an advocation to apply for everything.

Have to agree with the moderator, I have 13 (actually got 9 removed, surprisingly) and it has not hindered me much at all, anything below (7) is considered excellent.

Wow... How did you get 9 removed?

Sometimes there is just so much room and inquiries go poof.  I've had that happen a couple of times.

I used the permissible purpose provision of the FCRA and basically just asked.

I think 86  on each is too high.

To some degree I think it depends on what your goals are for credit in the near term.  Certain lenders are very inquiry averse.  Me personally, I've now got 4-5 on each and that's more than I want.  Going to garden for at least another 7-8 months.
