HOW OLD MUST A COLLECTION BE, TO BE OLD?

I'm curious how credit lending companies view collections on a person's credit report. If a collection is 2 years old, is that considered to be an older collection, or is that still seen as a new collection? I have one that was resold but reporting as 12/10.Falls off in march, and I just want to educate myself on collection account information.

It's a YMMV-thing per lender. I've had some turn me down with my newest baddie at 6 yrs old. I've had others accept me with my newest baddie a year or less.

It could be either. I had a paid med bill for $ 171.00 that was about a year old and was turned down for a cc.
