HSBC or CAP1

Would it be better to send a GW to HSBC or CAP 1?  I just sent my first GW to HSBC but got to thinking with their merger would that do any good?

They forward people with GW requests over the phone to Cap1 because all account records are now with Cap1.  I'd assume letters would go to Cap1

Normally I'd say a letter is better, but who knows where that letter is going to end up.  Call or email might be best.  Try emailing the CEO.  It should open a case with the executive office.
