I sent an e-mail to the CEO of HSBC yesterday and recieved a call from the executive in the executive resolutions unit. She basically said she had read my request for a goodwill adjustment but unfortunately HSBC policy does not allow goodwill adjustment. Very discouraging considering I got that far....Has anybody had a late removed with HSBC lately?

HSBC removed a 90 day late from 2007 on my Orchard Bank card. They will do GW. You've just got to keep trying.

HSBC is a nightmare. They are pretty hardnosed. I have 2 CO's from BK that are consistantly reported wrong and I am fighting with them tooth and nail. If you get through to anyone pm me cause I have all but given up on getting them removed.
Funniest part is they keep sending new pre-app CC's through Orchard to me everyday.

Creditors and debt collectors have a sound basis for any policy not to delete prior information based on payment of the debt. It is a condition set by the CRAs in their credit reporting manuals and in their credit reporting agreements. You are, in fact, asking them for an exception to their policy, and an exception to their reporting agreements with the CRAs.
Once a creditor or debt collector sets such an internal policy, you are very unlikely to get exceptions granted by non-management personnel. You need a party with authority to grant exceptions to their own policy. Just keep hammering up the management chain until you find a sympathetic ear.......

About a year ago I sent in a GW letter and they removed a 60 day late from my Orchard card.

I don’t know HSBC’s particular set-up, but don’t get discouraged. In many cases, companies will set aside a certain team of customer service reps to act as the “executive team.” These representatives are often trained and paid the same as any of the company’s customer service reps. An executive team can even be spread out across various offices / call centers, and the “executives” may respond to other requests as normal customer service reps based off what queue the request was listed under. It’s just an efficient way to sort through complaints and demands (legit or otherwise) addressed to the CEO or home office. The fact that you received a quick call back from the “executive” makes me think HSBC is likely using this set-up.
In other words, your next request may receive a more open response. I don’t want it to sound like I’m trashing the company. Just try to remember that these teams aren’t necessarily meant to mislead you. Along with your requests, the reps are probably weeding through everything from death threats towards the CEO to complaints about the company’s newest commercial.
