Help.. Reappearing Jefferson Capital collection account. so confused

Hello all,

I have a question. I have had a old Jefferson Capital collection account since 2008 for $845.00 showing up on my credit report. I have a subscription with Equifax and they always send me alerts when there are any changes to my CC. They sent me a alert that this SAME account was being placed for collection. When I looked at it, it said the date it was opened was 06/2011 and the date it is being reported is 11/2011. THIS ACCOUNT IS OLD. I did dispute this item around that time online and THEY verified that it was mine. (it is. but they don't know that) I don't know what to do now. How did this start over?  What should be my next step. Please help.!! I just want to rebuild and start over.

Pull EQ to confirm that it isn't reporting two times.

Date Opened refers to when the CA took over the account. Ignore that date. It has zero to do with your CRTP. Date reported is when they last updated the TL on your CR.

Re: Help.. Reappearing Jefferson Capital collection account. so confused

It looks OK so as long as the DOFD was in 2008 and the balance is correct (factoring in interest too).

ETA...send a DV. If they verify and you agree, then send a PFD.

You are really a big help. Why did the DOFD change? Is this affecting my CC score anymore?

Are you sure the DOFD changed? It says 1/2008 now. Was it before that?....and no, DOFD cannot change unless it was reporting incorrectly prior to the change.

I actually have two from this company. Should I DV both of them?

Click the link below. A DV, IMO, should be very simple to start:

Example letters - PFDs, GWs, DVs, etc.

Send a DV for each CMRRR. Of course keep SOL in mind for both before sending anything.
