I was able to DV an old CC account from college and it came off 2/3 CRA. It is still reporting on EX. As others have said on here when you DV you wake the sleeping giant and they (NCO) have started calling again.
The lady offered me a payoff (settlement) of 800 on an 1100 acct, with the orig CL of 300 (late fees etc. are a killer lol). I explained to her that I didn't recall the account and that under the FCRA (prolly should have said FDCPA) I wanted a copy of the original bill and contract since she wasn't the original creditor. She went on to say well we have the last 4 digits of you SS and that we sent you a letter to xxx address. I replied that the letter was just a generic bill form them, and was nothing to do with the validation.
Then she transfered me to a supervisor who was very rude and said fine, he would try to find me something, but since I was being difficult that they would no longer cut me any settlement offers (what a loss! lol).
What are several question should I hit them with? Whould I use FCRA or FDCPA Section 809. Validation of debts [15 USC 1692g], next time someone calls? Or what is my best plan of action to deal with them?Next time someone calls you need to say " I do not discuss financial matters over the phone as I have no way of verifying who you are, please communicate with me via mail"
This account is past the SOL in Illinois for a lawsuit right?Depends on what DOLA and SOL is.
What date do I go buy when figuring out the SOL?DOLA.
What is my best method to handle more phone calls for this JDB/CA.See above.
Thanks for any help, this board has been a life saver for me, I now think I am an expert lol, but still need all you real experts to show me the way!

30 days as of Jan 2002, Aug 2001If I am reading this right, you DV'd NCO.They removed from 2 CR, but not the 3rd.They didn't send validation. Now they are calling and try to collect?Did you DV request state no contact by telephone? If they did not respond to DV and are trying to collect, that is FDCPA violation.
